My father was an engineer & with quick competent sketches he'd explain to me how the internal combustion engine worked. I'd silently marvel at his natural sense of perspective & longed to be able to draw with such flair.
Practising & improving my drawing skills has always been important to me.
By studying shape, tone & colour I aim to produce pictures with harmony, ballance & emotion.
I hope my images speak to the onlooker in a way that photographs can't.
The living world is my inspiration; animals, people, plants, landscapes.
I work from life & also refer to my own photographs.
Images on this website are arranged by medium: pastel, charcoal, oil & occasionally watercolour.
